Nostalgia can be a beautiful. Life is defined by moments and we naturally return to favorite memories of the past which isn’t a problem. It becomes a problem when we begin to live in the past, yearning for days long since passed, and are incapable of moving forward due to an inability to shift from previous beliefs, thoughts, goals, and dreams. The truth is that those moments are gone, and we can’t get them back. We can’t go back. It’s nice to remember the fun times you may have had with a person but if ya’ll don’t vibe anymore, if ya’ll have just changed too much that it’s draining to have a convo with them, it is not in your best interest to attempt to rekindle a friendship solely because it was great back then. It’s not good now.
The past is gone, and we can never get it back. Life continues and so do we. That may sound harsh, but I know from personal experience, romanticizing the past and trying to desperately cling to something that can and will never be again, can leave us an emotional wreck. On the other hand, sometimes we must return to the past to remember who we are. Why we changed. Why we gave something up. I don’t want this to be a long-winded post, so basically, to sum it up, the message of today is that while fondly remembering the past is good and well, don’t linger. You aren’t going that way and have traveled down your current life path for a reason. Let it be. Live in the present.
Brightest of Blessings,
