5 of Cups and Ace of Cups

In order to make room for something new in our lives, sometimes we must lose something first. That loss can leave us feeling saddened, vulnerable, nervous, anxious, and even afraid as we step into that moment of unknown. We aren't sure what's to come and we no longer feel in control. This leads to a sense of lack and panic. What do we do? Where do we turn? Did we mess up?

This could result in us wanting to turn and cling tightly to what we have left...to what we know. This stifles our potential for growth, transformation, and insight. It blocks any magick from happening in our lives. You may find you're being led, or even thrust into, a fork in the road where you get to choose: comfort and the same ol' same ol' OR move into the unknown where you may find something far better than you could've dreamt. It sounds all good and dandy but the mere fact that it possibly could not leaves most people weary and unsettled. It makes the decision for them, really.

However, there is the underlying promise of hope and new beginnings awaiting us. It reminds me of the old saying, "When one door closes, another one opens." There's a reason behind everything that happens and maybe this loss is really your gain. Something wasn't working well for you, regardless of how hard you struggled and were determined, so it's time to start fresh again--this time with a different approach. With a different purpose. With a different heart space.

Yes, there is heartache in loss but it could just as well create an opening for hope, especially when you were suffering to begin with.

Happy April and Belated Easter,

The Autumn Witch
