The Importance of the Divine Masculine

Many of us who come to Paganism, Wicca, and Witchcraft later in our lives usually left one of the three Abrahamic faiths where One Male God reigned supreme. We may have felt condemned by Him, abandoned, stifled, or even, damned. More often, it wasn't necessarily God Himself but his followers and the dogma that drove us away. Even still, for some people, they still have loving memories of their previous faith but it just hadn't felt like them. I belonged to the latter so my relationship with the Divine Masculine may be quite different than those from the first two categories.

Regardless of not having much issue against God or the Divine Masculine, when I came to witchcraft, I grew super excited over having a Goddess. It resonated so much with me and I could instantly connect and tune in with Her. I was enraptured, to say the very least. I did work with Male Deities but my work predominately dealt with the Goddess and Her many guises. I would never completely forgo the Divine Masculine as I find both sides are needed for harmony and balance. Personally, I find that a strictly Goddess-oriented craft is just like having a strictly God-oriented path. They both work with each other.

So, because I recognize this balance and the need to level my spiritual path out, I recently decided on doing my devotions differently. Now before I tell you what I mean, let me define how I do devotions. Devotions for me are about giving an offering to the Deities I invoke (like incense) and simply tuning in with Their energy. This is not the time to ask a favor or do spellwork. It's simply a time for me to be present and be with Them. I know when I first started I wanted to pray and ask for help during that time but to me, it's like "I gave you something now you need to do something for me" and that doesn't jive with me. You know?

Anyways, the way in which I go about doing my devotions now is that on Sundays I give offerings solely to the Gods while Mondays are for the Goddesses and Fridays are still reserved for Hathor. The other days of the week are when I do my daily devotions for both. I've noticed since devoting a day solely for the Gods, I feel a much stronger connection to Them and my craft seems more expansive and powerful. I'm not denying one side as They both are necessary.

Interestingly enough, while doing my devotion today, I did ask Osiris if there was something I should know. I just had this feeling of a message which is why I asked. My attention was immediately drawn to the candle flame before His picture and I got a message which I felt He wanted me to share.

"The God Energy, the Divine Masculine, is a fiery and forceful energy that can also be subtle and tamed. Just as the Goddess can be the fiery and fierce Mother, so too can the God be a stern yet wise Father. Fire is associated with the Divine Male Energy and like fire, it can lick at people, running rampant, and causing mass destruction...if used incorrectly. However, fire also has the ability to offer light in times of darkness, hope, and can allow for fresh growth. It's all lies in how the energy is used and how it's projected out into the world."

To me, this is incredibly powerful because I feel it offers a way to heal from any wounds inflicted by the Patriarchy. We as humans may have suffered in their hands but in a way, so have the Gods as people still tend to stay away from Them...

Just a bit of a Sunday thought!

I hope y'all have a wonderful week and Brightest of Blessings!
