So, here I am washing the dishes (now would be a great time for those magic powers as seen on TV LOL) and I just had a random thought pop into my head that made me stop and really think...Yes, I do some of my best thinking while doing dishes, surprisingly...
It was about making assumptions and remembering that we get so used to viewing things from only one perspective that sometimes we miss the obvious and just immediately jump to the only logical conclusion, at least in our opinion.
For instance, I randomly had the scene from the Big Bang Theory come to mind when Sheldon is talking to Professor Proton about how he's good at letting go since he's already had to let go of x-number of Doctor Who's. As someone who is an avid fan of Doctor Who, I remember watching that episode and immediately turning to my brother to scoff that Sheldon isn't a real fan or the writer's are just trying to present him as geeky when they don't know what they're talking about. He rolled his eyes since he knew what I was talking about. Doctor Who is the show title. It's a question that surrounds this two-hearted alien who is constantly running and saving the universe, even if screwing it up along the way. The character's name though is The Doctor and it is something that peeves many many fans. The Doctor, not Doctor Who.
Anyways, I had been so caught up in judging that I never gave much thought to the fact that I know the show. I'm someone who does watch it whereas many people who may enjoy the Big Bang Theory, don't. My dad LOVES the Big Bang Theory but cannot get into Doctor Who at all. So, as I was standing there, scrubbing a coffee mug, I realized that I had never given thought to the writer's doing that so other fans may understand what he's talking about. There are plenty of shows about doctors while there is only one Doctor Who.
Next time you find yourself judging and making assumptions, pause and ask yourself if you're considering all the options....I certainly wasn't and was just being snarky. It happens. I am human.
