Good Morning, Everyone!
I always love when synchronicities occur because they remind me of the magick of the Universe--of all that is. Sometimes we get so swept up in the day-to-day happenings that we miss the beautiful little messages that Spirit is trying to give. These signs can come in a variety of different ways and are usually subtle, hence why we are able to so easily miss them. That's right, folks. No booming voice from the heavens or birds pecking at our windows until we see them--though that one is something I think could happen unlike the first example...
Anyways, I had one of those experiences this morning and knew it was a message that many of us need to hear which is, "Answers (whether to questions or prayers) require patience and the ability to be still.". Patience and Stillness. Why? Spirit/The Gods/Angels/Whoever You Ask for Help works in Their own timing which may not match up to your own. This is why patience is so damn important and perhaps why most of us struggle with it. We have our own timelines. We know when something needs to happen, when we want it to happen, and have neatly planned out our lives (or not so neatly, if you're me). Even if we don't have specifics, we at least have a general picture of how we want life to be.
Divine Timing doesn't necessarily work in tangent with that. It might but I have found that usually not. Instead Spirit brings things into your life when you will most benefit from them. You might not get that job you begged Spirit for but you might end up being offered something even better later on. Or you might ask for something but not get it until much later on. During the time you were asking, you might get upset or pissed that you didn't receive what you wanted but you'll find in retrospect, you got it exactly when you really needed it. Maybe you weren't open to receiving it at the time, regardless of how much you believed you were, so you had to wait until you could value it as the blessing it was. I can only give generalizations based on my own experiences here because well, I might be a part of Spirit (as we all are) but I'm definitely not Spirit. I might be created by the Gods but I'm not Them so I definitely will not speak for Them in absolute certainties.
"The seasons do not push one another; neither do the clouds race the wind across the sky. All things happen in their own good time." --Dan Millman
The point is: Divine Timing doesn't usually align with our own agendas which is why patience is so fundamentally important. We live in fast-paced society where we want quick-fixes and instant advice. We don't want to sit around in meditation or wait for a sign. I mean how many of us get antsy whenever we have to wait on someone to call us or send us an email? (I'll raise my hand!) Patience forces us to slow down and release control. It forces us to open ourselves up and rely on someone besides ourselves. That's something many of us struggle with. We have this feeling that the only way to get something done, and in a manner we want, we must be the ones to do it. Cue massive burn-out.
Didn't realize this could all be an issue when it comes to patience, did you? I didn't either. It wasn't until I was doing my morning angel practice when I was reminded of being patience and the importance of stillness. Yes, I struggle with it myself--not that I haven't already mentioned that like a million times already ;). I asked a question and almost immediately my mind began to run a bunch of ideas and potential solutions through it. I mean, just a mile a minute. Maybe I'd forgotten something. Perhaps I just wasn't looking at all the possibilities. Very gently, the angels stopped me and pointed out that if I sought answers and help then patience and stillness are required.
Patience to be silent and wait for an answer and if it wasn't received during the meditation, patience to wait for the answer to come without forcing it. This brings in the issue of allowance and being open to receiving. Not to mention surrendering control...and a bit of vulnerability...and--yeah...it's definitely a whole topic to unload. I mentioned stillness just a moment ago but it's hard to quiet the mind. There is a difference between stillness and silence though the latter can't be perceived without the former.
A quick google definition search defines stillness as, "the absence of movement or sound." while silence is, "complete absence of sound." Those are the technical definitions but I would define them instead as: Stillness is being present within the moment and thereby aware of both the inner self and external world while Silence is simply the lack of sound.
When we are still and fully present within a moment, without a million thoughts running through our mind, do we become aware of the silence. If we weren't still, we might never notice at all. Have you ever been so engrossed in your thoughts or whatever it was you were doing that you failed to notice the room either empty or quiet completely? Without presence, without being present within a moment, we become unaware of our surroundings and sometimes even ourselves. Like when you become so ensnared in your thoughts that you lose sight of what it is YOU think and believe...ever done that?
So when the angels this morning told me to be still, I initially thought of silence. I had to quiet my mind. Well...that would've been helpful but wasn't what they were meaning. Instead, I was being asked to just slow down, come into the moment, and just listen. Silence was a part of it but it was only after becoming still that I was able to become silent. In that stillness I was able to clear my mind and return to my heart, where I believe our spirits reside. I was able to uncover a deeper issue that was causing my problem and then I just knew I'd receive my answer, if I had faith and trusted. I didn't receive it during the meditation but afterwards when I drew an oracle card for myself. The answer was perfect and resonated beautifully with me.

In the past, I might not have even consulted my cards because I would've been so hung up about not receiving an answer immediately after asking. I would have gotten annoyed that nothing came up during the meditation--though it did and the message was sorely needed--but now I understand all happens with Divine Timing. For me, my biggest lesson today was about surrendering control and allowing Spirit to work without my badgering. It was understanding that I have laid the problem out for Spirit to help me with so I don't need to constantly try to solve it. That doesn't mean for me not to work on it. It just means paying attention and open to guidance. It's an openness of perspective and mind. When we get so focused on something, we close ourselves off from outside help. Instead we feel like we have to crack it ourselves. See, everything I've mentioned ties in somehow!
After this long-winded post, you may wondering how this was a synchronicity for me. Well, if you received my Newsletter Sunday then you will remember that the card I drew for the Second part of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday was Forget-Me-Not and was asking us to change our perspective.
In the post, I wrote: "Unlike last week, this card isn't focused on changing our mindset about something, but instead is asking us to shift the way we approach a problem as the answer may be within plain view...we're just missing it for the proverbial trees."
Even though I enjoy reading Tarot and Oracle cards, I love when messages align like they did today. Instead of worrying or trying to reach a solution alone, I was able to bring it to the altar, ask for help, and then surrender control. I gave up my need to have an answer right away. I allowed myself to be open to guidance and patient to when it'll be received. Thank the Gods I didn't have to wait long but trust me, They have definitely left me hanging for a bit on some things. Divine Timing does not usually match up with our decided timelines as Spirit is not forced into such limits and boundaries. Time really is nothing more than a human concept which is why it may take a bit for us to receive an answer, however, regardless of how long it takes, we will receive. It's all about becoming still enough to recognize the signs that Spirit is dropping all around us. We don't have to become completely silent to be still. We merely need to allow ourselves to be present otherwise we'll become blind to the answers that we asked for.
